A Balanced Breakfast

My baby this semester was primarily my visual storytelling project. It turned out to be a 15 minute almost 200 panel storyboard about a family during breakfast time. It is partially a heart warming tale about a young boy and his beloved ant farm, but mostly it is just silliness and stupid people commencing in chaos. (See this post for all the pre-vis work I did for my mid-term...I still really love those rough layouts. It's too bad perspective dies in storyboards, heh)

This is another project I'd like to work more on. My teacher had some great story suggestions after my final pitch and I think it'd be really fun to take it to animatic format. We'll see if I have the time. It was a lot of fun to do in any case. This is the first big storyboarding project I've ever undertaken. I didn't have a clue what I was doing, but I think I learned a lot.

Since there are so many boards, I'll post just a few sequences that I like.

30 Second Film: Late Night Snack

Here is a selection from my boards for my upcoming 30-second film (to be completed in Animation 2 next semester)
I'm only posting a few just for fun, and also because I need to go and play around with some staging. When I have the whole reel complete to satisfaction, I'll post that. And then I'll animate it.

(That makes it sound so easy)

(But it won't be)

Starring Bonnie Lopez, who I have concocted to be another addition to my beloved Lopez family. She is the living-on-her-own, 20-something, hipster daughter that Rainbow and Seamus had when they were much younger. She is kind of a pretentious mess. Hmm...wonder where the inspiration came from?

Animation Fall 2012

All of the assignments I did in Animation 1 this semester. I have some very horrendous memories of this work. Hopefully you don't share the same feelings.

I still plan on going back in that last clip and fixing the take and leg vibration after the first walk. I don't know why, but that bit just really puzzled me for the longest time. I almost got my brain around it when it was time to turn it in. Of course of the finals day my professor explained it in a way that made perfect sense. As soon as I get back around a lightbox and have a little free time (ha) I'll be going back to redo that. I'd like to have it as polished as possible, even if it's just for my own peace of mind.

Figure Drawing Fall 2012

This is the final portfolio I had to put together for my figure drawing for animators 2 class this fall. I guess it was another one of those instances where I had just a couple of days where all my drawings were good and then a lot of days of crappy drawings. Since almost all of these are from the same 2 or 3  days. Oh well, what are you gonna do?
